According to the INEC, the Ecuador Census Bureau, the September unemployment rate in the urban areas of Ecuador was at 5.5%. The lowest figure to date since June of 2007.
But of those employed, 47.9% are considered to be under-employed.

Buy grey, sell blue.
That’s a winning formula here on the coast of Ecuador.
You’d be surprised how much more buyers are willing to pay for your beach property on a blue sky, emerald-blue ocean day- compared to when the sky is overcast and the ocean takes on a dark, murky green color.
Which makes September through the first week or so of December (right now) the best time to buy here on the southern coast of Ecuador (from Manta to Salinas) due to the almost daily overcast, drizzly weather, grey sky, grey ocean with few tourists around providing more willing sellers.
And the best time to sell a property here is during the high tourist season from late December to early April, when almost everyday you can count on a blue sky, blue ocean day.
