Ecuadorian Migrants in Spain Return to Ecuador

ecuadorian immigrants

One unmistakable trend happening in Ecuador now is the wave of Ecuadorian immigrants living in Spain who due to the financial hardships being experienced there have decided to return home to Ecuador.

With unemployment rates over 22% in Spain as of 2011 who can blame them.

This could have a downward push on prices, especially in the Loja and Cuenca areas, which have property markets that are heavily influenced by the money Ecuadorian migrants bring back from abroad to buy in Ecuador.

Now, returning without much money, there may be less buyers and demand for Ecuador properties in those areas.

Wine Consumption in Ecuador Increases

According to Daniela Hervas of Wines.com.ec the wine consumption in Ecuador increased in 2011 to one bottle and a half per year per adult in Ecuador compared to 8 years ago when the consumption was just one bottle per adult in Ecuador.

It’s important to understand here that in Ecuador, there is not a big wine culture and consumption and demand are considerably lower compared to other northern countries.

73% of Population in Quito uses Public Transport

According to a recent survey done by consultants from the Comunidad de Madrid 73% of the 2,370,884 inhabitants of Quito rely on public transportation on a daily basis.

buses-in-ecuador

This is a good thing that will hopefully continue, due to the long, thin valley that Quito sits in, the traffic often gets horribly bottle-necked, especially during peak hours.

It’s also important to note that with all the inexpensive taxis and buses around, Quito, as well as Ecuador in general, is a place where you really DON’T need a car. A big plus indeed for many considering a move here.
