OK, well, in the big cities only apartments are available near the city center, but towards the fringes you may be able to find a house.
In the countryside you can find just about anything you want from farms to raw land to houses (but not so many condos).
On the coast, in the towns/cities of Bahia, Manta and Salinas you can find condos with oceanviews. Everywhere else on the coast it is more rural and condos may be difficult to come by. Single family houses are the norm. Duplexes can be found just north of Salinas in small cookie cutter residential communities, but they are certainly not a common site yet.
