Check out Monolithic Domes and Earth bag houses. Domes are the strongest structures.

I am also interested in bringing in two Siamese kittens I haven`t found any here, so I plan to purchase some in the US and bring them here. The only thing I can add is that I read that the animals need to have their rabies vacs and I think it has to be more than 30 days before they arrive.

Hi Butch, I’m in Vilcabamba and the local bank offered close to 9% but I’ve already locked my residency CD in for a year for almost 6%, which ain’t all that bad but I could have done better if I had looked around more.

Hi Annie, We recently moved to Vilcabamba and love it here. Loja is a great place to visit and shop but there are very few expats there and I find it’s much more comfortable here and it’s just a short, beautiful drive to Loja.

It is quite a bit cooler than the coast, warmer than Quito or Cuenca and a bit cooler than Vilcabamba.

Hi Carina, I just opened a CD for my investment residency and I am getting almost 6% interest on it. If I had opened an account at a different bank I could have gotten at high as almost 9% for locking in for a year.

Seems to me when I do the math that it works out in my favor even if I took the money out in a year….not that that is likely since I’m not going ANYWHERE! I love it here. Ecuador is my new home.

I wonder if what borderdude is talking about are investment brokers. I’m in Panama right now and Financial Pacific will not open accounts with Americans because Panama recently made an agreement with Obama that if they found that an American was trying to evade taxes, not only could the US government confiscate the tax evaders money but they could also grab the money from the company itself, putting all investors and the company at risk.

Well, now this is interesting! I recently found a YouTube where President Correa stated that the US coup in Oct failed and that any planes spraying ChemTrails would be forced to land and confiscated. I can provide it with translations if requested.

And that is exactly why I would move to Ecuador! I refuse to live in a country that sprays me like a bug and from all the research I’ve done (extensive) this is the only country that is NOT being sprayed and the only leader that has the balls to say ‘Not in my country.’
