Is Loja (Catamayo) airport closed???

I have heard that Loja's airport is closed for construction until later this year.. Can anybody confirm this.. when will it open again?? Thanks

At Banco de Fomento (state-operated bank) you don’t need residency. I just opened an account in January.

Although I haven’t whale-watched in Ecuador, I’ve heard that June – October are good months to sight whales.

the area around bahia de caraquez, canoa, jama, and pedernales is nice. sorry i don’t have any specific info on available properties… but if you’ve got time and your spanish is good it may be better searching for yourself when you get there. suerte!

shrimp and crab are ubiquitous on the coast. there’s often a moratorium on them around january and february.

In the smaller towns $1 fares (not per-person) are common when the destination is within the same city and only a 5-10 minute drive.

looks like you can bring in one new/used desktop computer. for your other personal items you don’t have to worry. in fact, i would bring in as much as possible (without going over the weight limit) b/c quality products are hard to find at good prices here.
