Megalodon — what you are describing sounds lovely of course—
A few more questions grateful to be commented:
Are you planning on living on your land by yourselves ?
How about infrastructure – easily attainable- time consuming / cost?
Water source – ? is it automatically 100% YOUR water when you by land ?
Building regulations /codes– do you have to submit your plans/measurements and all that crap, or they leave you alone free to build basically whatever you want?

I’ve lived in a village in Bolivia for 2 years but haven’t been to Ecuador yet
..surprisingly im neither Americano nor brit .
It seems you have to ‘swim’ with locals a long time and do the work yourself if you want to escape the fee’s and gringo sir-charges..
Most info Ive seen on the net is designed for the pallets of older richer retiree geezers, and the prices are bloated accordingly –so it seems.

Dom – is there solid info on Malacatos / similar areas you can recommend ? I couldn’t find much on the net.
