Find a Question:
Where to buy with Horse

My husband and I are in the early planning stages of considering a move to Ecuador. We would like to find jobs, although we will come with an income of $1600 a month. I have a horse that I’d like to bring as well. What areas would you suggest? We prefer near a quaint town, expats in the area, hills are nice. Beach is not important. Are there places to board a horse, or is it best to own land? Thinking of coming in March or April for a fact finding visit. Thank you.

Darlene, I have a beautiful Rocky Mt here in Texas, but my research tells me I won’t be able to get my girl to Ecuador. Forum members have been clear it isn’t easy to get boxes in more/less a horse! Maybe that could be your new job, helping ex=pats get their critters in!
I saw on househunters international, that the real estate agent in Cotacachi, arrived to show a house on a horse, her only transportation. I found, however that Cotacachi the real estate prices are much higher than in other parts of the country. There is an ex-pat population of around 300, if that’s important, but around Cuenca you can find better deals.
I have been doing a lot of research, so none of what I say is first hand, but that’s me. Trying to figure out the best area for me.
From everything I’ve read, horses are everywhere, you can ride on the roads, beaches where ever!
