Are charges based on weight or cubic footage or what?
If you are speaking about importing your household goods either duty free or not then I think it would be best to go straight to those that do this for a living and are experienced as things can and do change here and that is not something I would think you want to leave to chance. They can also make sure you understand the time frames that are imposed on importation without duty of your household goods (if doing it that way), how to do it etc.
If speaking about some household items when you move here and not about a container…then you might want to consider suitcases, paying the extra from the airlines and getting your goods here that way if they will fit.
I did it the second way with 14 suitcases and it worked out very well. Containers from my origination point were going to be very expensive so opted to sell everything and rebuy here.
