Teaching English in Ecuador

Hi Dom,
My family and I really getting serious about wanting/planning to relocate from Canada to Ecuador. I have some rental revenue from here and Im trying to figure out what would be the best business to get into down there. Ive considered just working at a hotel, opening a cafe, running a property management company and even teaching english. Have you had any experience with the english teaching thing? what would you recommend to look into?

I have yet to see a properly run property management company in Ecuador…granted I live on the coast and only travel to the bigger cities when I need to so I might have missed something….but certainly not on the coast in our area. I see cafes, bars, hotels etc…..but not property management. Just my thoughts.

Hi Ruff,
I dont recommend teaching English in Ecuador, the pay is low and the hours are long. China is much better and much higher paid for teaching. I made $2-3000 a month teaching when I was in China a few months back.
But your other ideas are all good and could be quite profitable in Ecuador.
