Taxi Fares in Ecuador

As a couple we are curious…
Taxi fares are shown to be $1 to get here or there… Is this per person?

Normally the cabs work on a fair basis and not a per person basis. You might find that information to be outdated though…not to many $1 fares unless just going a short distance.

In the smaller towns $1 fares (not per-person) are common when the destination is within the same city and only a 5-10 minute drive.

In locales such as Montanita, Olon, etc, a “taxi” (reliable) will cost from 25 cents to $ 1.00. Most cost 25 cents to 50 cents,and cover a fairly wide area. There is no charge per person.

I use these “taxis” frequently,as I am in San Jose, near Montantita
