I read in a posting that motorcycles/scooters can be purchased for around $700. Is this for new or used? Is this is one of the major cities? A partial dealership? Name brand?

Yes you can buy new from about $799 at Ace Hardware in any mall or stand along store. This is for 125 CC and a Chinese brand. You can buy many different brands here including Suzuki, Honda etc, but they will cost more. Larger scooters will cost more as well. If you figure you can buy one from $799 to about $2000 you will be in a safe range. I have a $799 125 CC that we purchased at Ace in Manta at El Paseo mall and it has been working fine for our needs, you just need to do the services on it. Hope that helped.
