Have not heard much about this area. From what little I’ve read, it seems to be large and full of interesting things. Could someone tell me more.

Hi Annie, We recently moved to Vilcabamba and love it here. Loja is a great place to visit and shop but there are very few expats there and I find it’s much more comfortable here and it’s just a short, beautiful drive to Loja.
It is quite a bit cooler than the coast, warmer than Quito or Cuenca and a bit cooler than Vilcabamba.

Loja is an amazing area which has a cooler climate, yet its surrounded by Vilcabamba which has a spring-like climate year round, and the Amazon region which is hot and muggy year round.
I refer to it as a mini Cuenca, and once Cuenca gets too expensive i think Loja will be the next choice.
