I happened on an Ecuador attorney’s website in December, 2011 that had a huge banner at the top of the home page. It stated that all clients and prospective clients be advised that in February, 2012, there would be a reinterpretation and change of Ecuador’s immigration laws and requirements. Does anyone have an information about this and whether the changes will make it easier or harder?

Dom is right…..I wouldn’t worry about it to much, it will be whatever it is and we will all deal with it as it comes. As he stated, many things are in constant flux so even if you get the right information for today…it could be different tomorrow or even if you ask someone else.

We began our residency in April 2011 and as of today everything is not completed. A 90 day process has turned into 10 months. The Attorney we used was from an International Living Conference in Panama. She has an extreme lack of skills in communication even though she speaks English fluently she will not answer your emails or return your phone calls. She works out of Quito and Cuenca and has that particular information on her website and Facebook page. She has told us it is the fault of the government and since I don’t know I will not use her name but I would be very careful and never pay in advance. I am lucky I only put up a $200 deposit.

Ecuador immigration laws are like the tides of the ocean, in constant flux… dont worry about it, just go by the current laws that are on the books now. Dom
