Is it feasible to open a small american bar and cafe in salinas?? Would Ecuadorians be interested and can it make money to pay for itself?

It might be depending on the competition and location I would imagine. Ecuadorians are interested in just about anything “American”. I will say this…in Ecuador we have found the drinks to not be to our standards in many establishments regardless if they are Ecuadorian or American and the food would have to be great to attract expats and Ecuadorians. Just my thoughts but I would recommend being on the ground and doing the research personally. Going to the competition and determining what is missing or lacking would be good and true research.
Hope that helped some.

Tiger, I do not have an answer, but I was thinking about something similar. I plan to spend time in country to observe what locals want/like before making any decisions. Dom has said Ecuadorans don’t like pizza or breads much, but I really think the ex-pat community is going to grow in the next couple of years.
I was thinking along the lines of “tiki bar/burgers” America fare.
I plan to just go watch to see what’s missing, I feel like there are probably a ton of “needs” that could be filled, but I plan to do a lot of observing first! are you thinking “Ric’s” or trader vic’s? Tracy
