Health or Hospital insurance for Seniors age 75

I would like to know if this is possible. Should I go the naked route
[no insurance]are Hospital and Doctors expenses reasonable ?

Most of the plans that I looked at had exclusions for that age bracket or it was absurdly expensive in my opinion. With that said my wife and I have found the doctors and the clinics to be very reasonable, but I do not have information on the hospitals yet…neither of us has had to go.

No insurance might actually be an option. I have a family member hospitalized in Guayaquil. The bed is $13 a day. The condition is life threatening, they have to operate on an open brain. The operation will cost $1250 after some negotiation (they came down from $1800), so it’s not terrible. Same thing in the US and you are talking $50k+.
