I’m planning to soon come and reside as a retiree in Ecuador . Cuenca , Loja or Vilcabamba are my destinations of choice .
Could those of you living in those areas let me know if one needs to be vaccinated before arriving and while residing in those towns ?
If so , against what illnesses ?
Thanks !

Hi Simba;
I live on the coast, not in the areas you have chosen so my experiences might not fit, however, precautions against malaria, yellow and dengue fever as you get closer to the amazon had been recommended to me by my physician. I would check with your physician as they should know and then with the Ecuadorian consulate on health affairs for recommendations. To be safe your physician will know your unique physiology and some might be more susceptible than others. Intestinal parasites can cause discomfort so most everyone takes medication every 6 months whether they need it or not here on the coast and I imagine most everywhere.
