I want to buy in Manta. Any recomendations of where in Manta will be great. If someone has also a recomendation of where we can stay while house hunting from Feb 7-29 2012.. Awesome. BIG Question.. how do I pay for my purchase..

I live in Canada and will love for you to recomend an agent we can use. I am a Naturalized Ecuadorian, and My husband is Ecuadorian. We were going to go to Manta and pound the pavement so to speak. It has taken all last year to get my papers in order and now we are ready to buy.. Manta, Puerto Cayo.. We only have 2 weeks there as the other week we have will be in El Tingo visiting Family.

Joanne, I would recommend Enrique Garcia with BSC real estate in Manta…his wife works in their office as well and you will find them both to be very professional and great to work with.
The are on Ave. Flavio Reyes, 1714 y calles 18 y 19. His cell is 091780305. You can tell him you have spoken to me if you would like. He has helped me out with many things in Manta. Hope that helped. Larry, you say a single wire transfer is easy to do. Is this done through a realtor, or what are the specifics on wiring money? Here’s my situation: I’m married to an Ecuadorian and trying to transfer $40,000 from a BofA account to a Banco Pichincha account without paying huge fees/taxes from either end. So far I have transferred $7,000 — BofA charged $45, while on the Ecuadorian end $35 (either through a fee or tax, not sure which yet). I prefer to send the rest in one lump sum, so I can hopefully pay fewer or no fees. Does anyone know if BofA has a better option, or what other options are out there specifically? Thanks,

Hola Jo. In Sept I wired 30k US to Banco Pichincha using BECU (acct holder). $15 fee. BPichincha fee: $4. Missus wanted me to use Wells Fargo as it was cheaper… I don’t use banks. FYI

Tintina were you not charged $36 or more by SWIFT? When I transferred $7,000 from BofA only $6964 arrived.. apparently SWIFT took out $36 for being an `intermediary`

Hi Joanne;
Not sure if you have a realtor or not and you do have to be careful with who you use. Some new laws are coming into effect the first part of the year to make realtors be licensed which should help. If you need a good recommendation please let me know and I will supply.
Paying for your purchase is very simple at this point in time from the USA or Canada. A simple wire transfer will do it for a large purchase such as a home/land/condo. The following year (2013) will not be so easy as the
HIRE act takes effect for the USA on Jan. 1 of 2013, which has verbage to the possibility of a withholding being taken when attempting to transfer dollars outside the USA as high as 30%. Your timing is very good I would say.
