I will arrive in Guayaquil march 1 at 8:30, my realtor says to go ahead and stay there for the night and travel to Salinas the next day. I need a driver to pick me up at the airport and get me to a hotel, this is my first trip so I hope to get all the details set up in advance. As for my Spanish, The only thing I’m sure of is that I can successfully order a beer, but would have a tough time if I ran into any problems.
Is there any issue that might come up at the airport, customs, immigration etc?? Anyone who’s flown in, what should I expect-should I look like a tourist or a biz person? thanks

Hi again Tracy…I got a message but it was formatted weird…ahhh, the rigors of technology…LOL.

There should not be any issues with your arrival, its a pretty straight forward process, nothing out of the ordinary about it. There are some things you need to know…firstly you shouldnt look like a tourist or wear a lot of jewelry or carry a lot of cameras etc on your person. Make sure you only order a taxi that is yellow with an orange plate as these are real taxis here. Some hotels offer van service to and from the airport and if you are making your reservations on line ask for that service or call them to make sure you will get it. I assume you are arriving in the evening so that would be a good safety measure for you. I assume you have a driver taking you to Salinas already? If not then have your realtor set all this up for you, they should have all these arrangements in advance with those they know and trust. Put it on them to assist you in making sure you are safe and get to where you need to….it is in their best interest too. Just my .02 cents….have a safe trip and enjoy it.

Hi Traci, I’m traveling to the same area on the 29 of this month. Most hotels provide a pick up service at the front desk. Someone will stand at your arriving gate with a sign that has your name on it. Cost is $10 and you should plan on a 45 min wait to go through customs. Hope this helps. I have done a lot of research on costal properties and this was one of my first of things I did after booking a flight and a hotel for Guayaquil. Hope this helps.
