I am wondering is it better to just fly into Guayaquil as we plan on looking around the coast while we are in Ecuador? How many miles is it from bottom of Ecuador to the top of Ecuador and how many miles from Quito to Guayaquil. I have been unable to find out the true size in miles.
Thanks
Ross

Hi Ross;

The coast is quite diverse and long. It stretches 1400 miles. I did this very same trip as I was scouting my first time to Ecuador…took me 3 weeks to do it right. I knew I was going to want to live on the coast so that helped some, but the trip was still a long one, albeit fantastic. I suppose if I had to do it all over again I would have started in Manta, which is about midway along the coast so making day trips both north and south would be easier on me. I can say that now looking back but I would not have changed anything of my trip…it was great. I settled on the Manabi province on a lovely stretch of coast slightly north of Jama where development has not taken over yet, its quiet, pristine and perfect for us. Hope that helped some and if you need anything further you can get me here or at larryp@vistapacificahomes.com
