According to statistics announced by the local newspaper, El Universo, Ecuador has an annual housing deficit of 1 million residences, wheres construction this year only reaches a total of around 400,000 new residences. This, as well as increased availability of local credit, could have an upward short term effect on the prices of housing in Ecuador.
